Brand & Digital Presence

A 30-year Michigan law practice needed a complete digital rebrand — replacing a dated website with a credible, conversion-oriented presence that reflected the firm's expertise and brought in qualified organic leads.

Brand & Digital Presence

30 Years of Trust, Zero Digital Presence

Meridian Legal had built a respected practice over three decades through one channel: referrals. The partners were well-known in Michigan legal circles, the firm had earned a strong track record in business law, real estate, and estate planning, and their clients were loyal and long-term. But referrals have a ceiling. As partners considered growth and eventual succession, they recognized that a firm invisible to organic search — with a 2016-era WordPress site that hadn't been updated in years — had no pathway to acquiring clients who weren't already connected to the network.

The existing website wasn't just dated visually — it was structurally misaligned with how people search for legal services. There was no practice-area content organized for search intent, no consultation booking flow, no attorney profiles that conveyed personality or expertise, and no Google Business presence that had been claimed or maintained. Organic lead volume wasn't low — it was effectively zero. Every potential client who searched for estate planning attorneys in Michigan, or business lawyers in Ann Arbor, found someone else first.

The firm's managing partner understood the opportunity precisely: if Meridian could be found by the right people at the moment they needed legal help, the firm's track record and personal approach would close the engagement. The gap wasn't in the service delivery — it was entirely in digital discoverability and first impression. Our mandate was to close that gap in 8 weeks.

Positioning the Firm on What Actually Differentiates It

We began by talking to Meridian's existing clients — 8 structured interviews covering why they chose the firm, what they valued about the ongoing relationship, and how they would describe Meridian to a colleague. The pattern that emerged was consistent across every interview: clients chose Meridian because they were explained things clearly. In a field where legal language can obscure more than it reveals, Meridian's attorneys had a gift for making complex situations understandable, and for personal availability that larger firms couldn't match. None of this was visible on the existing website, which led with generic "trusted attorneys" language indistinguishable from any other firm in the state.

We built the brand strategy around clarity and personal attention as Meridian's core positioning — not as marketing language, but as a genuine description of what made clients stay for decades. Every element of the new website expressed this: practice area pages written in plain language with direct answers to the questions clients actually ask, attorney profiles that led with personal stories and communication styles rather than credentials lists, and a consultation booking experience that made taking the first step feel straightforward rather than intimidating.

The SEO strategy was built from the ground up — practice-area pages structured around local intent keywords with schema markup for legal services, Google Business optimization with a structured review acquisition program, and a 12-month content calendar targeting the 40 highest-volume questions Meridian's prospective clients were asking in search. Within 6 months, the site ranked in the top 3 for 14 target keywords across Michigan legal searches, and organic lead volume had tripled from its near-zero baseline.
